The Bomb Range software is a new system developed by the Warfighter's Edge Team. The software provides pilots and range managers with an interactive web-based database that mines through massive amounts of range data and gives pilots the target references and restrictions needed to drop bombs on target and complete training.
The project started as a collaborative effort between WEdge and the 56th Range Management Office, the Air Force's caretaker for the Barry M. Goldwater Range Complex located in Southwest Arizona. The RMO was in desperate need of a system that could wade through very large amounts of range data and provide pilots with weapons restrictions needed for their missions. A web-based solution was proposed and 12 months later created and deployed resulting in a robust system capable of the complex sorts that are required and critical to completing a safe and successful mission.
The system provides the following functions:
In summary, the system will help pilots get bombs on target and do it safely. It is an interactive and informative web application that is designed to present data in a manner that pilots can sort through and easily understand.
